Aspirin Not Recommended For Healthy People

Healthy people who take aspirin to prevent heart failure and heart attacks are putting themselves at risk, according to research conducted by British scientists.

Millions of people take aspirin daily to keep their arteries unclogged - but no proof exists that this actually works. In fact, there is now proof that Aspirin increases the risk of hospitalization due to internal bleeding. The risk is small. The study included 29,000 people between 50 and 75, out of which 3,000 were given a daily Aspirin, and another 3,000 a placebo. Out of 3,000 Aspirin-eaters, two percent (34 people) developed major internal bleeds, while 1,2 percent (20 people) did in the placebo group. The heart attack rate in the two groups was the same.

The doctors involved in the study do not recommend people that have suffered heart attacks stop eating Aspirin, as it can still be beneficial if you are susceptible to the disease.

Fatty Foods Affect Memory and Exercise

DESCRIPTION

Eating fatty food appears to take an almost immediate toll on both short-term memory and exercise performance, according to new research on rats and people.

Other studies have suggested that long-term consumption of a high-fat diet is associated with weight gain, heart disease and declines in cognitive function. But the new research shows how indulging in fatty foods over the course of a few days can affect the brain and body long before the extra pounds show up.

7 Strategies to Deal with Weight-Loss Plateaus

You’re losing weight at a nice, steady pace, and things are going well...then all of a sudden, the scale doesn’t budge. For a week, maybe two or longer, you don’t see your weight change, even though you know you’re following your eating and exercise program. Are you stuck at that weight forever? Time to panic? Not at all. You’ve probably just reached a plateau, part of nearly everyone’s weight-loss odyssey.

Another plateau-buster seems to consist in actually increasing fat intake slightly (say, 1 tablespoon of linseed oil daily or every other day). This is thought to induce your body to burn stored fat.
